Meet Carlayne
I’m Carlayne Gilbertson, a Performance and Strategic Intervention Coach and the creator of The Worthy Way.
For more than 25 years, my work has centred on people: how we understand ourselves, navigate change, relate to one another, and find the confidence to make choices that matter.
That interest is personal, too. Through motherhood, my own exploration of self-worth, losing my husband, and a step daughter, I’ve experienced how life can ask us to reconsider who we are and what comes next. I know there are moments when the way forward feels uncertain, even when you’re someone others count on.
Those experiences continue to shape how I coach. I bring curiosity, compassion, honesty and a belief that we can find more freedom in how we live, even within circumstances we wouldn’t have chosen.
Experience that supports the work
I bring more than 18 years of professional coaching experience, alongside a background in leadership development, organizational change and team performance.
During more than a decade with FranklinCovey Canada, I worked closely with leaders and organizations, led client partnerships, and helped bring programs such as The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Law Enforcement to teams, including the Ontario Provincial Police.
Through my work with CMS Career Management Solutions, I’ve coached approximately 2,000 professionals through career transition and workplace change. I’ve supported people at many stages of their careers, from navigating job loss and finding a new direction to strengthening their leadership, communication and performance.
I hold certifications in Strategic Intervention Coaching through the Robbins-Madanes Institute and High Performance Coaching through Elite High Performance. My work brings that training together with years of listening, learning and helping people put insight into practice.
What it’s like to work with me
You can bring the things you haven’t quite figured out how to say.
The decision you keep putting off. The conversation you’re dreading. The feeling that something needs to change, even if you don’t yet know what.
We start with what is happening in your life now and deep dive into everything. Together, we explore the beliefs, emotions and patterns influencing your responses, get clearer about what matters to you, and work towards practical steps you can take.
Sometimes that means setting a boundary or speaking more honestly. Sometimes it means navigating a career change, leading through pressure, connecting to your worth, or finding your footing after loss.
My approach is warm and direct. I’ll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions and challenge you when it’s useful. There is room for humour, uncertainty and the reality that change takes practice.
The Worthy Way grew from this work and from my own life. Its four pillars; Awareness, Choice, Empowerment and Freedom, reflect how understanding ourselves can open up possibilities, and how acting on those possibilities helps us build trust in ourselves.
A connection to community
Grief support is close to my heart. My involvement with Seasons Centre for Grieving Children and Hospice Simcoe includes board service, fundraising, community events and conversations about grief and loss.
It is work that reminds me how much it matters to feel supported while finding your own way forward.
Let’s begin with a conversation
You don’t need to arrive with a clear goal or the right words. We can start with where you are, what’s feeling difficult, and what you would like to be different.
Ready to begin a conversation?
Tell me a little about what is bringing you here. I’ll follow up so we can explore whether coaching is a good fit.
